I'm relatively new to GW, and I’m loving Factions. Currently I am almost level 17 and have completed (I think) pretty much every quest available on the island.

I know the mainland is meant to be difficult, but I can’t stay alive for five minutes, are you supposed to struggle through this part or am I missing something?

The armor available from Kaieng Center (north of the market place, travel through Burdek Byway) has the best/max stats in the game. It would be real helpful for you to get that as soon as possible, especially if you are playing a warrior or assasin on the front lines. Those afflicted explosions that were hitting me for 120+ each now only do like 30 damage.

Other then that, take it slow and maybe ask around to form other human groups for help. I admit for somebody brand new to the game, it might be a bit rough. You'll get better though. It was the same way when I got to the Crystal Desert (in the original guild wars) with my first character.

Yes it's supposed to be that hard, I found the marketplace and the whole city area in general to be the hardest part in the game, I did the whole thing with henches though so that might be why.

The Kaineng center armor is pretty expensive. For a new player, you're probably unable to afford the whole set unless you've farmed good money on the island.

But the important thing on the island you don't want to miss is the 2nd attribute point quest from Zuunra in Seitung Harbor.
